Raku Firing Workshop (2 part)
After a successful Raku Workshop a few years back, I am excited to offer another Workshop. This will be a two part Workshop. On the First Saturday, August 10th we will talk about the general history, theory and practice of firing ceramics in a raku kiln. We will also talk about which combustibles we will be using and what you can bring from home.
I will provide the clay (Pipenberg). There will be molds available to use if you wish to use some of my mask forms. You are also welcome to make your own creation and the third option is to watch a demonstration of a piece I will be making. After you leave and your pieces are bone dry I will bisque fire them.
When we meet again in two weeks on Saturday, August 24th, I will give a glaze demonstration and then we will glaze our pieces with the raku glazes provided. I will discuss the raku process and some of the safety protocols and then we will get started!
Saturday will be a potluck so please bring a dish of your choosing. Plamen will be grilling pork riblets and veggies and we will have some yummy appetizers available as well!
This Workshop has room for 8 people.
