Painting over a photograph
Painting over photocopies is a great way to practice painting portraits. I chose this photo because there is so much contrast in her face and I love close-ups. I painted over her existing highlights and shadows which again, is great practice when learning how to paint a face. The larger photo creates a nice focal point and the colorful background draws you into the painting.
