Stephanie has been sharing her wonderful ideas and endless patience with me for a couple of years now and it continues to be a great experience. She’s knowledgeable and willing to learn at the same time. I recommend her classes very highly!
Stephanie taught a class to our community of potters on the Oregon coast in Manzanita. We learned SO much and continue to enjoy experimenting using the techniques she shared. THANKS Stephanie!
I love her art and she’s such a wonderful teacher! So helpful and encouraging :)
I had so much fun in Stephanie's Coil Pot Class. Her instructions were simple and easy to follow. She was very patient and helpful when assistance was needed as well. I feel very confident that I could repeat this process on my own, event with no prior experience. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Stephanie Burton is a positive spirit of creativity. I took one of her workshops recently. Stephanie has an uncanny ability to produce exciting techniques one after the other…I was truly in awe. She is knowledgeable, accessible, encouraging and interested. The hallmarks of a great teacher.
This term refers to several techniques of building with clay using only the hands and simple tools rather than a potter's wheel. Students will work with clay using a variety of hand building techniques, depending on the project you select.
Different techniques include:
Soft clay right out of the bag constructing coil pots, pinch pot rattles, various sculptures etc.
Soft slab construction which includes:
Purses, collage plates, serving trays and bowl forms, functional vessels including water pitchers, creamer and sugar and cups as well as butter dishes and salt & pepper shakers etc.
Hard slab construction which includes:
Birdhouses, treasure boxes and much more.
(focusing on individual projects utilizing a variety of techniques & skills)
I will select particular workshops for the month and send out a newsletter announcing these workshop a month ahead of time. I will rotate different workshop projects each month. If there is a particular workshop you would like to see on the calendar let me know via the contact page and I will see what I can do.
The individual workshop cost is $60 per person and last 3 hours. If you would like to extend your time you may purchase an open studio session which is $20 for 4 hours. My goal is to get at the least 2 people per class. If you would like individual instruction, this will cost extra. If you would like to schedule a special clay event for example: a birthday party, holiday party, family gathering, team-building event etc. We can agree with a project for the group depending on folks experience. You may also specify a specific project for that day and we can make it happen depending again on everyone's experience.
I can hold a maximum of 7 people.
