self portrait using Mixed media           

Painting over photographs is a great way to practice painting portraits. This is obviously not a self-portrait of myself. It is Brooke Shields. I chose this photo because there was so much contrast in her face and I love close-ups. I painted over her existing highlights and shadows which again, is great practice when learning how to paint a face. The larger photo creates a nice focal point and the colorful background draws you into the painting.
