Karen Corona - Spirit Sticks
In this art experience you will be invited to create a “Letting Go” Spirit Stick. This can then be used as a tool for the ritual of navigating life transitions that call forth a letting go process. There is power in creative rituals which can guide the way in moving through life in a process of growth.
In making your Spirit Stick, you may choose colors and objects that have special symbolism and meaning for you. You will have the opportunity to add paint to your Spirit Stick and elements from nature like feathers, shells, small stones and other ephemera like twine, ribbon, and charms.
Andrea Chebeleu - Nature Printing Mother Sheet Journal
Working with nature we gather from right outside the studio we will experiment with various techniques to get prints on our mother sheet (90 lb Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper 22x30)
Techniques include, cyanotype printing, printing with a heat press, gelli printing and rubbings.
Our experiments will turn into the backgrounds for special prints and nature collage to be added to your completed journal.
The finishing touch for your journal is a canvas cover created in collaboration with your fellow participants.
Stephanie Burton - Nature Drawing & Collage
We’ll venture out into nature to wander, walk, collect, and photograph botanicals. Back at the studio, I will show you how to draw your botanicals and transfer them to tissue paper and transparent laminated paper. We will complete our session by using these translucent papers to create cohesive mini collages. You can keep them as individual pieces or add them directly to your journal that you’ll be making with Andrea. This process often unleashes new creative growth and discoveries! During the Autumn Equinox, a time of balance and introspection, we'll express these themes in our collage papers.
What You’ll Take Home: - A handmade canvas-covered journal filled with lush lessons and reminders from nature. - A toolkit of ideas to continue your creative journey. - Your own "Letting Go" Spirit Stick, a symbolic tool for navigating life transitions. - A series of mini collages created using your collage papers and botanical drawings.
