About the event

Have you been wanting to dabble in Watercolors? This is a great class to get started. Even if you already are familiar with Watercolors, this is a great refresher course. I will start out by showing you a variety of tips and tricks when it comes to using Watercolors. This will give you a nice head start when you begin painting your Whimsy Watercolor Birdie.

Tips & Tricks I'll be sharing:

~ Wet on dry paper

~ Wet blooms on wet paper

~ Using Stencils

~ Wet paint on wet paper

~ Dry Brush

~ Splatter

~ Gradient

~ Blending two colors

~ Salt on wet paper

After we finish our Tips & Tricks we will start out by painting the eye of our birdie. This instantly gives a live quality to your bird. I will demonstrate the relationship between the darker and lighter values which begin to communicate the form and texture of our bird. The goal is to get lost in the relaxing, fluid nature of watercolor painting…remember, we are painting a WHIMSY BIRD! Once we allow the base colors to dry, with a smaller brush, we will start to paint in the darker details on the wings, legs and eye.

Every student will leave with a finished Whimsy Bird on 140lb Watercolor Paper.

Students of every experience level are welcome!
